Late last year we received an urgent call for help from Topeiros, Northern Greece, where hundreds of stray dogs were living in horrific conditions on a landfill site.
Thanks to the generosity of supporters, we were able to spring into action sending vets, medicines and food. We have:
🐕 Sterilised over 200 dogs, preventing the birth of more homeless puppies.
🏥 Treated countless ill and injured dogs.
🍖 Provided over 7 tonnes of food to ensure that the dogs are fed every day.
But that’s not all…
We are also rescuing and rehoming as many of the dogs as possible. Dogs like beautiful Jimmy (pictured below) whose life has been transformed.
Once scared and hungry, fighting for survival at the dump, he is now a very happy boy, living his best life in the Netherlands!
And Olympus (below), a big softy living in constant fear, bullied by the other dogs on the site. Desperate for attention he has found just that, and is thriving in his new home.
I’m also happy to share that we’ve found a home for Rottweiler, Ronti (pictured below).
Abandoned as a puppy at the dump site he was almost hairless due to mange and very skinny. He is now well fed and with a beautiful, healthy coat.
We’ve paid for his treatment, sterilisation and vaccinations and are preparing him to travel to Athens to join his new family.
There are hundreds more dogs on the site that need help, which we’re committed to providing. But food, treatments, sterilisations and vaccines all cost.
With more funding we’ll be able to treat, rescue and rehome more dogs.
We also wanted to share how we’re improving the lives of Greece’s cats too! 🐱
Recently, with our help, our partner the Kalymnos Cat Project sterilised over 180 cats in just 6 days!
It was a very demanding mission. But despite the challenges, Leslie and her team persevered, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements in such a short time.
None of this would be possible without your support. Your compassion and support are changing lives, four paws at a time.
Thank you for being with us on this journey to transform the lives of vulnerable animals in Greece.
