ASPROPIRGOS CTVT

July 2017. Do you believe in ghosts? Is the industrial suburb of Aspropyrgos really full of invisible creatures? Animal Action Greece Hellas decided to investigate the mystery…and ended up meeting Bongo, Beaglena and Blacky.

These three, all-too-real ‘ghosts’, were each suffering from CTVT (Canine Transmissible Venereal Tumours) – the oldest type of cancer known in nature – and needed our urgent help. The disease is infectious and is spread by contact – usually during mating. Unsurprisingly, it’s common where there are high numbers of stray dogs present.

As result of our immediate response in cooperation with the local animal welfare group “Ghost Dogs of Aspropyrgos”, we were able to not only save the lives of these three dogs but also to provide protection from CTVT to the rest of the stray dogs in the area.

If left untreated, CTVT can be a life-threatening condition but now Bongo, Beaglena and Blacky are receiving chemotherapy and will soon be completely healthy. For now, they are waiting for their forever families or at least a foster home.

If you could provide foster care for one of these characters or, better still, might consider adopting one, you can contact Alexander for more information on 0030 694 2707843.
